Jörgen Baekmark^[1]

Danish designer Jørgen Bækmark (1929–2021) was a key figure in mid-century Scandinavian design. He worked at FDB’s furniture design studio from 1958 to 1967, where he developed lightweight, elegant furniture tailored for mass production. Trained as a cabinetmaker with a background in applied arts, Bækmark played a crucial role in pioneering flat-pack furniture, a revolutionary approach that made quality design more accessible. For HAY, his iconic J104 chair was reintroduced.
